A Mental Evaluation of Some Classic Cartoon Characters

Times sure have changed. Just about everyone is either bipolar, borderline, depressive, etc... This got me wondering about some of the classic cartoons many of us watched as children. If some of those characters were real people alive today, they'd need some serious help!

For a little light hearted fun, I decided to personally diagnose some of the more extreme cases. In my research, I discovered that The Peanut Gang has the most imbalanced characters with a whopping four main characters that could use some therapy!

This is not meant to offend anyone. Instead it's a mockery of our society. Enjoy!

In your entire childhood, have you ever seen a cartoon character as depressed as Charlie Brown? He was always so sad and Linus would try with all his might to help cheer his BFF up. It never worked. Charlie was never a happy child. Maybe it was because he didn't have parents - he lived in that house all by himself with his little sister Sally! I'm sure premature baldness may have played a part. If Charlie were a real person living today, he would definitely need Prozac.

Joe Cool was just one of Snoopy's many personalities. When Snoopy would become Joe Cool, it was a bit confusing to us kids. Now as adults we understand what a serious disorder little Snoopy had. None of the Peanuts addressed the issue because Joe Cool was a pretty harmless fellow. There was of course, that other personality of Snoopy's that liked to sit in bars and drink root beer. We never got that one's name.

She tortured Linus for fun and took pleasure in Charlie Brown's pain. I mean, she'd actually pose as a psychiatrist and have poor, depressed Charlie pay for her lousy advice! Not only that but that whole football thing was just painful to watch. Charlie just fell for that over and over again. He'd run and kick with all his might just to have that sadistic Lucy take the ball away so he could fall flat on his head! When the other Peanuts would pick on Charlie Brown, Lucy always seemed to be the ring leader. Yes, without a doubt, Lucy is one sadistic girl!

Peppermint Patty was such a confused girl! She had a crush on Charlie Brown, yet had Marcy completely whipped! She came off as butch but considering her infatuation with Charlie "Chuck" Brown, she could also be a bisexual. Peppermint Patty could have used some counseling to determine what her sexual preference really is.

Tigger made my head spin! He was always bouncing around and talking super fast! He needed to relax! Ritalin could have certainly helped calm this hyper tiger!

Poor Eeore was in a constant melancholy mood. While not severely depressed, he moped, talked slow and walked slow. It must be hard to be friends with a guy like Tigger when you are Eeore!

Before Kate Moss and even Twiggy, there was Olive Oyl. Olive Oyl was Popeye's girlfriend and first famous anorexic. She was so thin and although her problems were never publicly addressed, it was pretty obvious to most viewers at home. She never even touched Popeye's spinach!

Yabba-Dabba-Doo! Fred's manic phases were frequent and boy was his temper unpredictable! His fights with Barney would leave him depressed but then the mania would kick in! In later episodes, Fred started seeing a little green alien named Gazoo. Gazoo would float around over Fred's head and tell him to do things. Nobody else could see him,except Barney, who also developed schizophrenia.

Obsessed with attention, Betty Boop became a showgirl. Borderlines can be very promiscuous. Betty Boop, always scantily clad, was extremely flirtatious. She was also perhaps a bit manipulating. She had tons of boyfriends and needed men around her to feel secure. These are classic signs of a borderline.

Finally, there is Bugs Bunny. Bugs Bunny appeared in drag numerous times in the Looney Tunes cartoons. He always seemed to enjoy dressing and acting as a woman. His femininity seemed to make Elmer Fudd a little nervous!
